Ear seeds and
auricular reflexology
Have you ever noticed the tiny stickers that some athletes wear on their ears?
These are often known as ear seeds, and they're one of my favourite ways to extend the benefits of a reflexology treatment beyond the therapy room.
Auricular Reflexology (sometimes called auriculotherapy or ear therapy) is based on the idea that the outer ear acts as a microsystem of the whole body. Just as reflexology works with specific points on the feet, auricular therapy uses carefully selected points on the ear to support relaxation and overall wellbeing.

Unlike acupuncture, ear seeds don't pierce the skin. Tiny Vaccaria seeds or small metal beads are secured to specific points on the ear using skin-friendly adhesive tape, providing gentle, continuous stimulation for several days. They're completely non-invasive, discreet and easy to wear as you go about your normal daily routine.
Many people choose ear seeds to complement reflexology when they're looking for support with:
-
Stress and relaxation
-
Emotional wellbeing
-
Sleep
-
Feeling calmer during busy or challenging times
-
Supporting their wellbeing between appointments
One of the things I love most about ear seeds is that they're so simple. Every time you gently press one, it's an opportunity to pause, take a breath and check in with yourself. Those small moments of self-care can become an important part of looking after your overall wellbeing.
I often include auricular therapy alongside reflexology and facial acupressure treatments when I feel it's appropriate for the individual. Each treatment is tailored to you, and I'll explain which points I've selected, how to care for your ear seeds and how to get the most from them over the following few days.
Although research into auricular therapy continues to grow, it should be viewed as a complementary approach that supports wellbeing alongside conventional healthcare rather than replacing it.
If you're curious about ear seeds and would like to find out whether they could complement your reflexology treatment, I'd be delighted to chat.
